Credentials – Music has always been a central passion, and I have been playing piano for 40 years, and writing songs for over 30. I gained my Grade 8 Piano in 2008 and also have a First Class BA Honours in Music, Theology and Worship (2006). I worked for 6 years as full time Music Director in a large church and have been leading worship within various settings for over 35 years. I recorded my second album in 2015, Stay, which you can find on ITunes (My first album, in 1990, was a tape!) An EP is pending Spring 2026!

Teaching Style – I am an encouraging, people-centred teacher who thrives on seeing people become the best they can. I love helping people find the courage to step out and achieve often way beyond what they thought possible. I am aware of music’s therapeutic nature, along with the depth of enjoyment it can bring, and the power it carries. I have worked extensively with both individuals and groups, covering both practice and theory. I am also a qualified youth worker, and have lectured and tutored at degree level.

Piano Lessons – I teach pupils of all ages from beginner to grade 5. At present most lessons are online, which I find works well for a screen based culture! I recommend weekly lessons for maximum progress and enjoyment. During the first lesson I aim to get a sense of what the pupil hopes to gain from their lessons, and we decide together from there whether to work through grades, or focus on a more flexible programme, whether for pure enjoyment, or the worship setting.

I also offer lessons to those who don’t know whether they can commit long term, with an agreed initial 5 lesson plan. Then, if the student wants to continue, we simply roll it out from there! Individual piano lessons are 30, 45 minutes or an hour. It is essential that you have your own piano or keyboard.

Worship Leading Mentoring – Many people are stepping out in the area of worship leading, and some can feel a little out of their depth. My training and experience enables me to build confidence, spiritual, practical and musical input, to help and encourage people in their calling. These sessions are specifically tailored to each individual, so the scope and regularity are agreed in the first session. It may be that monthly mentoring over 6 or 12 months is most beneficial, or perhaps weekly sessions for a term.

Worship Leading Teams Development – I also offer group sessions for worship teams within or beyond church to help them move forwards in their worship leading roles. These can be theological input, team based input, practical worship leading support, prophetic worship leading, or a mixture of the above.

Song Writing Workshops – There is nothing more satisfying than crafting something you are proud of having written! Within these workshops, I teach general principles as I guide the individual or group through the song writing process. Whether you have not yet written any songs, or whether you have written dozens, I suggest a minimum 6 session programme to cover the basic building blocks of how to write a great song. Each session is an hour, or longer for groups.

Worship Leading and Speaking – I am also available to come and lead worship for your church service / event / conference, or to speak on the subject of worship, the power of the song, the relationship between worship and mission, or anything
