Statement of Purpose

The song flowed out on as I sat and worshipped at my piano on 25.02.26. I have long had a heart for the UK and the Republic of Ireland (which I see spiritually as one united land) to step into their true identity. I love all nations, and believe each one has a God given destiny and purpose. The UK happens to be the one God placed me in. This statement reflects what this song is about, and has the agreement of many who have taken part in this first recording. The same words, the same prayer, can be sung from and for any nation or nations.

This is the Time is at once a prayer, a prophetic declaration, and a response to a growing interest in the person of Jesus. At its core, the cry is that this land will once again know the beautiful Jesus as lord, life bringer, heart healer, and one worth shouting about! The prayer is that people will take the celebration of the Kingdom of God into the streets with boldness and excitement, that the church will again be visible and alive. Jesus is for everyone, from any background, nation, situation – all are invited to join the band, to fill the streets, to celebrate. At its core, the message of Jesus and his rule and reign is a message of love, so the invitation is to join the love army.

There is such a beautiful history of Christian roots, revivals, awakenings, and wells of prayer and worship from all parts of this land.  The cry ‘England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, let your river flow’ is precisely the prayer that this river of God’s love will be known in these lands once again.

There is an inscription on a wooden plaque bearing words which accompany the melody of Big Ben, the Westminster Chimes. Apart from changing ‘my’ to ‘our’ as this song is corporate, this anonymous prayer is as written, words that echo every time the bell chimes:

“All through this hour, Lord be my guide, That by Thy power, no foot shall slide”.

There is a current longing for and expectation of revival in the British Isles and indeed the whole world in these days, as we see interest in the beautiful person of Jesus increase. Leading up to the release of This Is The Time, I had a strong sense of the need for intercession, humility, and a balancing if you will of our anticipatory celebration of revival alongside the truth of our humble reliance on God. 

Our prophetic hope sits alongside a sense of awe and dependence on the One whose Spirit alone can turn the tide in the nations we love, and the hearts of the people we love. We long for revival precisely from this place of humility, knowing we have a God of mercy and compassion who hears and responds. Whilst we thankfully read the words through the lens of Jesus, 2 Chronicles 7:14 remains a necessary prayer for these days.
